Our Story

How We Met...

During Spring Break, as I soaked up the sun and carefree moments with my frat brothers, fate led me to Kimberly through a mutual friend.

From the moment we met, there was an undeniable spark between us. We exchanged numbers with excitement, already planning to steal away more time together before the break came to a close. Our days were filled with texts, each message brimming with anticipation as we tried to sync our schedules and find another reason to be near one another. On the final evening of Spring Break, Kimberly invited me to join her and her friends for a dinner by the beach, a moment that felt as if time itself had slowed down. As the ocean waves whispered around us, we shared a conversation that stretched on for hours, filled with laughter and the kind of connection that felt destined. Before we parted ways, we promised to stay in touch, and from that unforgettable evening on the beach, our bond blossomed, growing deeper with each passing day.

The rest, as they say, is history.

The Proposal

Kim's Perspective:

It was so him. Quiet, unassuming, yet filled with meaning—nothing flashy, but everything in the moment. It was early on New Year's Eve, just before dawn, around 6 a.m. He asked me to join him on the porch for coffee and to watch the sunrise together. As we sat there, with the light spilling across the sky, he started talking about everything we'd been through, about how young we were when we first began dating. I could hear the depth of his feelings as he told me that, just a few years into our relationship, he knew—despite the distance between us—that we were worth fighting for. And even though I had no idea where this conversation was going, I could feel the weight of his words.

Then he mentioned something that stuck with me—Shaq and Kobe. He said that just like them, we needed each other to truly succeed, to win our own championship. Being a fan of sports, the metaphor resonated deeply with me. I started to understand, to feel where he was coming from. But just as I was catching on, he reached into his pocket, pulled out a small box, and I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. Tears welled up in my eyes as he opened it, revealing the ring. And without thinking, my heart and mouth just whispered, “Yes.”

Josh's Perspective:

I had the ring for a while before I finally worked up the courage to propose. For weeks, I obsessed over finding the perfect moment. I ran hundreds of scenarios through my mind, but each one had something that made me second-guess myself. But on the early morning of New Year's Eve, I found myself restless as I went over the plan yet again. I knew I couldn't wait any longer to tell Kimberly how I truly felt.

I grabbed coffee from Dunkin' and, with the weight of the secret heavy on my chest, I knew this was the moment. I grabbed a quilt for Kimberly and myself and asked her to join me on the back porch. She was in the middle of brushing her teeth, heading off to do some couponing (she probably thought I was being overly sentimental, which, to be fair, I was). But I knew what I had to say.

We began talking about something I'd mentioned to her before, about how we were like Shaq and Kobe—unstoppable when we're locked in and working together. Then, as the sun was rising, I asked her, "What’s one thing champions need?" And when she looked at me, her eyes filled with emotion, I showed her the ring.

I’ll never forget the look in her eyes, the way she began to cry, and then the single word that made my heart smile: “Yes.”

Our Future:

We are filled with joy and anticipation as we prepare to wed, trusting that God has beautifully aligned our paths. I am blessed to have found my companion, the one He has sent to walk by my side through this incredible journey of life. With every step, I pray that God leads us to grow together, hand in hand, as we face life's challenges—stronger and more united than ever. I eagerly look forward to the future, to growing our family, and raising children who will one day be kings and queens in their own right. Together, we will nurture them with the morals and values that have shaped us, guiding them to become the kind of people who make this world a better place.

Leave Us A Note

We are excited to wed and anticipate lining up our family with God's plan for us. I officially have "my companion" who God has sent to me to walk and experience life with. I pray God leads us to grow with one another as we continue to face life's challenges head on, TOGETHER. I also look forward to growing my family in the future, raising kings and/or queens, and instilling the morals and values given to us that help make us great people.
